Pain : Ignite a fire within : Nehal

Which is that one emotion which inspires us to write, the most?

I think it is ‘pain’! Pain takes you to your deeper levels of consciousness. It takes you on a journey to those unexplored areas of your persona, you have never known they existed or may be you knew that they are there in a hazy state and you were afraid of owning or acknowledging their presence. You might have preferred to hold on to your preconceived ideas of ‘perfect’, ‘rational’ and kept on discarding everything else that did not quite fit in to those labels. You might have remained in a denial mode for all those feelings arising all along.

Those moments of pain; be it physical, emotional or psychological, be it actual or created by your very own thought processes, acts like a sharp pair of scissors, cuts through your soul layer by layer, reaching deep down where the very root cause is waiting to be discovered, unfolded. This process of ripping those layers one after the other is exhausting, draining, even more painful than the feeling of pain itself! It is worth taking this plunge. It is like silently burning into that fire, feeling the heat and letting all the nonessentials keep burning away from you. As a result of this burning, what finally remains is the non destroyable, non perishable, ‘real’ you!!
